November Wrap Up

For November I set a goal to read 7 books, a total of 2,457 pages. I made it halfway through my tbr before I started to stray. I’m a bit of a mood reader, so it’s difficult for me to stick to a set list of books, because I’m not necessarily interested in them 100% of the time. Now for the good news: I was able to read more than 7 books this month AND I am now exceeding my GR goal of 50 books! I am absolutely shocked at my total and if you keep reading, you’ll see why.

Of the books on my November tbr, I read To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han, Our Dark Duet by Victoria Schwab, When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon, and That Oxford Girl by Tilly Rose. I started Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo for the Crow Club botm, but was unable to finish it unfortunately. 4.5/7 books from my tbr isn’t so bad. I read 1,377 pages out of my 2,457 pages goal. And then…. I strayed.

While at work, I like to listen to audiobooks while I clean. Unfortunately, none of the books on my tbr had their audiobook available on Scribd. I decided to stray from my tbr so that I would still have something other than Christmas music to listen to. I didn’t want anything too long, so I chose audiobooks that were no longer than 60 minutes. The first audiobook I chose was Turning 15 on the Road to Freedom by Lynda Blackmon Lowery. I don’t usually pick up memoirs, but I love history, and this book follows the life of Lynda Lowery, the youngest marcher in the Selma voting rights march.

After I finished that one, I picked by Gmorning, Gnight by Lin-Manuel Miranda. I absolutely love Lin’s voice and his tweets, so I was excited to pick this up. I loved it, but I would much rather read it physically. We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was the third audiobook I picked up. There was a lot of hype around this, and the hype was well deserved. I can’t wait to pick up some of her other works. I was randomly in a middle grade mood, so I hit play on Amina’s Voice by Hena Khan. This book absolutely broke my heart, and if you choose to read it, you’ll see why. The last audiobook I picked up was And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer and Longer by Fredrik Backman. There has been a lot of talk about his books on my feed, and after picking this up, I can see why. This book was so beautifully written. I definitely have plans to read more.

I picked up one physical book from my library, and it was a major let down. After I returned When Dimple Met Rishi, I snagged The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon. Last school year I helped my librarian color code the books by genre, and then shelve them accordingly. Because of that, these two romance books were like a shelf apart from each other. The Sun is Also a Star is a book I’ve been meaning to read, so I figured why not?. I wish I turned tail and ran away because I found this book to be absolutely intolerable. I have a rant review coming out so be on the lookout for that.

All of these extra books totaled to 1,058 pages, which brought me to a whopping 2,435 pages. I was 22 pages short of my monthly goal. Dang. I have major goals for December, which you will be able to read allllll about in my next post.
